    MONDO HEILDEBERGE by Gerhard Eichelmann

    The stylistics
Jacques Picard's non-vintage champagnes are fresh and often feature floral notes as well as hints of lime, gooseberry and guava, all making fine aperitif champagnes. The Blanc de Blancs is beautifully pure, fresh and fruity, shows the typical Berru hints of gooseberries and guava in the background, is lively with fine mineral notes and lots of grip. The Reserve is also strongly characterized by Chardonnay, is spicy and fresh, shows citrus, a little orange and floral notes, is fresh, straightforward, slightly mineral, and has grip. The rosé is fresh, fruity, quite intense, shows red fruits, strawberries and cherries, is straightforward, powerful, fresh and gripping - an aperitif rosé. The Art de Vigne, which has been matured in wood and matured on the yeast for a significantly longer time, is completely different. It has an intense bouquet, shows smoky and spicy notes, some brioche and vanilla, is intense and full-bodied in the mouth, has substance and length, the 2008 is a bit closed, the 2007 is more open and currently a bit more sustainable. From the single vineyard champagnes I was able to taste Les Bénis, to which no sulfur is added, it has a spicy and floral bouquet, shows lime and oranges, white and yellow fruits, is fresh, clean and intense in the mouth, has good substance and fruit, is more an accompaniment to food than an aperitif champagne, which is even more true of the Art de Vigne, which can accompany an entire menu, goes well with fish, but also with poultry or wildfowl.

    The champagne
The range consists of Brut/Demi-Sec (ex-Selection, 60% Chardonnay, 35% Meunier, 5% Pinot Noir, 30 to 40% reserve wines, three years on the lees), Réserve (75% Chardonnay, 20% Meunier, 5% Pinot Noir, coeur de cuvée, 30 to 40% reserve wines, five years on the lees), rosé (88% Chardonnay, 12% Pinot Noir, 30% reserve wines, the Pinot Noir is destemmed then macerated for 6 to 7 days, two years on the lees), Blanc de Blancs (30 to 40% reserve wines, five years on the lees), Prestige Millésimé (60% Chardonnay from Berru, 20% Meunier from Montbré and 20% Pinot Noir from Avenay Val d'Or, eight years on the lees, first produced in 1988), Brut Nature Double Soléra (75% Chardonnay, 20% Meunier, 5% Pinot Noir, reserve wines only, made from Solera, stainless steel, five years on the lees), Art de Vigne Millésimé (same Cuvée, vinified and matured in 350 liter barrels, first produced in 1998), Les Termes Blanc de Noirs Premier Cru (60% Meunier and 40% Pinot Noir, single-vineyard champagne from one hectare with a Old vines in Montbré, six years on the yeast, first vintage 2015, extra brut), Les Champs Renard Millésimé (single vineyard champagne from Berru, 50% aged in barriques, 50% in stainless steel, extra brut, first produced in 2013) , Les Bénis Extra-Brut (also a single-layer champagne from Berru, 100% vinified and aged in barriques, without the addition of sulphur, first produced in 2015), Les Champs Renard Coteaux Champenois Blanc (100% Chardonnay from Berru, barrique aging, for the first time Produced in 2018) and Ratafia (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier).

This wine is a blend of Chardonnay (60%), Pinot Meunier (20%) and Pinot Noir (20%). It's available in the US, but is generally hard to find." Joseph V Micallef; Forbes

Les Champs Renards 2013 - COOK (Italian magazine) - Corriere Della Sera

"Les Champs Renard " is a sunny hill on the Jacques Picard estate, a small producer near reims. The extra brut 2013 (100% chardonnay) is generous, mineral and well-chosen for aperitifs and fish-based dishes, raw and not.

    Champagne BRUT:
"From vines on the Montagne de Reims, this Chardonnay-dominated Champagne has a ripe texture that contrasts with the mineral character of the Côte des Blancs across the valley. That gives a rich, apple- and white fruit-inflected flavor to this attractive nonvintage cuvée."
